My CLIL Activities
During my first year on GEP formation I prepared two different CLIL tasks:
-
Who is who? Knowing each other through music: an activity in which the students, working in groups, choose the songs they love and learn to justify their choice. After that, the students listen to the songs, analyze them and make their bet on which group has chosen the song. A good way to improve the knowledge of the others and to workgroup cohesion!
-
Knowing Baroque music: a reading and writing activity to improve our comprehension and knowledge about this period of the history of the music. Working in groups, they do some activities to make sure anyone could understand the text and, after that, prepare and answer several questions about the text.

After preparing my CLIL activities, I decided to implement the second one, "Knowing Baroque music" with my students of 2nd grade.
We created basis groups of 4 people to develop the activity. The steps we followed were the next:
-
To activate previous knowledge, we created 4 groups of experts in which they used specific materials to prepare the text: a timeline jigsaw, a mindmap, an activity using vocabulary cards, and an activity matching sentence and images.
-
Back to basis groups, they read the text, clarifying their doubts thanks to the "experts" in each part of the text. They used a template to organize the reading.
-
After the reading, they prepared some questions about the text, using again a template to help the group organization: each one had to ask and write, at least, one questions.
-
And finally, each group asked their questions and the other ones had to answer them.
We did the activity with 3 different classes of 2nd grade ESO. What a good experience! We are ready to do new CLIL activities!
